than other alternatives will find an ideal solution in the efficient NaturaLINE system," he added. Carrier Transicold developed the NaturaLINE unit to help fleets achieve sustainability goals and avoid issues related to phasedowns of synthetic hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerants. CO 2 refrigerant's ultra-low GWP of 1 takes customers directly to an end state, bypassing the need for intermediate refrigerant solutions that have far greater GWPs. In addition, CO 2 is non-ozone depleting, widely available, relatively inexpensive and classified as A1 for low toxicity and no-flame propagation. Currently the only other container refrigeration systems offering -40 C capacities use higher GWP refrigerants, and no conventional container refrigeration systems using either R-134a or R-513A can achieve -40 C. "Beyond the NaturaLINE unit's use of a sustainable natural refrigerant and its new deep-frozen attributes, it is a solid performer in other ways," Taeckens continued. "It provides energy-efficient performance and especially excels in perishable, part-load conditions. "Additionally, the NaturaLINE unit offers tight temperature control, owing to a variable-speed drive that electronically adjusts compressor speed to provide the precise amount of cooling capacity as needed," Taeckens said. "And, it is significantly quieter when operating in typical low-speed mode than other units in the Carrier Transicold portfolio, an attribute many of our customers have praised." The deep-frozen capability is immediately available with all newly purchased NaturaLINE units. Existing units in the field can take advantage of the enhanced performance range through a simple control software update. To obtain the software, contact your Carrier Transicold regional field service manager. The NaturaLINE unit remains in a class by itself, using the natural refrigerant CO 2 to deliver efficient performance over one of the widest capacity ranges available in a container unit – now down to -40 C. w "It provides energy-efficient performance and especially excels in perishable, part-load conditions." – Jim Taeckens, Carrier Transicold Degrees of Innovation Found in the NaturaLINE ® Unit • Sustainable, safe "end-state" refrigerant • Highly efficient • Quiet performance • Tight temperature control • Wide cooling capacity range – now down to -40 Celsius NaturaLINE ® | ContainerLINE November 2017 3
