Creating a FRESH Future for Shipping Perishables Twenty-five years ago, we pioneered the industry's use of controlled-atmosphere (CA) technology, delivering cargo to new regions previously thought out of reach, which changed the way people consume perishables globally. Today, we are proud to declare that we have expanded our offering of CA refrigerated shipping solutions with the introduction of the new EverFRESH ® system, an active CA solution. Our family of EverFRESH and XtendFRESH ™ solutions makes us the only provider today with both active and modified CA offerings, giving our customers the maximum amount of choice to address the complete needs of the container refrigeration segment and reliably deliver high-quality perishables to consumers worldwide. EverFRESH in particular has completed its fair share of field trials with one of our major customers, a large banana grower, and has proven its effectiveness with clear success. Sustainability also increases with use of CA. Both EverFRESH and XtendFRESH can shift the shipping of perishable cargo from the air to the ocean, reducing the carbon footprint, energy and cost in the exportation of these perishables. Ultimately, the use of CA reduces actual product waste in both the producing and receiving countries. In this edition, you will read more about Carrier's initiatives to create a smarter, more sustainable cold chain globally. Recently, President of Carrier Transicold & Refrigeration Systems David Appel spoke about the integral role the cold chain plays in reducing food waste and greenhouse gas emissions at the 31st Meeting of the Parties of the Montreal Protocol at the United Nations in Rome, Italy. CA shipping is another example of how refrigerated shipping is improving lives by continuing to preserve and protect the transport and delivery of perishables across the globe. We continue to be at the forefront of developing new technologies and helping to shape policies that create a fresher, more sustainable future.
