4 The PrimeLINE refrigeration unit is the standard bearer of SeaCube's refrigerated container inventory. SeaCube Steadfast in Supporting Shipping Lines' Refrigerated Container Needs "The vision of SeaCube is to be the premier provider of marine intermodal containers and the lessor of choice in the refrigerated equipment sector," said SeaCube CEO Robert Sappio, who joined the Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, business in 2014. Carrier Transicold refrigeration equipment has been a staple of the leasing company's inventory since 1993, when it was founded as Carlisle Leasing with an inventory of exclusively refrigerated containers, all of which were supplied by Carrier Transicold. Over the years, the company diversified into dry containers and added other refrigerated containers to its mix. But in 2015, SeaCube decided to bolster its investment in Carrier Transicold units, using them primarily for all of its refrigeration and generator set needs. "The reason we shifted back to Carrier is a function of what our customers ask for," Sappio said. "More often than not, they want the Carrier machine." Sappio said secondary lease opportunities and resale value at the end of a container's useful marine life also trend better on containers equipped with Carrier Transicold units. Finally, there is that enduring SeaCube-Carrier Transicold relationship, one built on a quarter-century of trust and responsiveness, and one that for SeaCube, according to Sappio, "does not happen with every vendor relationship." "In 2017, we were Carrier Transicold's No. 1 customer in the leasing industry, putting over 18,000 new PrimeLINE ® and ThinLINE ® units into service," Sappio said. So far in 2018, SeaCube has ordered more than 14,000 PrimeLINE units, with deliveries scheduled through the third quarter. "The PrimeLINE unit has been the standard bearer for Carrier and for us. It's been the machine that's most in demand," Sappio said. With a 25-year heritage of providing refrigerated containers and generator sets to the marine shipping industry, SeaCube Containers, LLC maintains a cool focus on the needs of this segment. Its mission has only grown in importance over time, as refrigerated commerce has risen, and shipping lines have increased their reliance on leased containers. ContainerLINE June 2018 | SeaCube
